Tenvir EM Tablet is a drug developed by Cipla to treat the HIV virus and hepatitis B virus.

This medicine contains the same ingredients as Truvada, which is also prescribed in , and is characterized by a white oval tablet.

Effects of Tenvir EM Tablet

Tenfovir disoproxil fumar, the main ingredient in Tenvir EM, is metabolized into tenofovir in the body through diester hydrolysis, and further metabolized into tenofovir diphosphate within cells.

After tenofovir diphosphate is incorporated into DNA, it inhibits HIV-1 reverse transcriptase activity by stopping DNA chain elongation.

Emtricitabine, the main ingredient in Tenvir EM, is phosphorylated by intracellular enzymes to become emtricitabine 5-triphosphate.

Emtricitabine 5-triphosphate inhibits the activity of HIV-1 reverse enzyme by stopping DNA chain elongation.

The two ingredients are in the class of reverse transcriptase inhibitors, which inhibit the growth of viruses, reducing the number of viruses and restoring immunity.

Although it is difficult to kill the HIV virus, it is effective in slowing the worsening and progression of symptoms.
